RE:       Moodle Course Requests for Fall 2010

I am pleased to announce a change in procedure for instructors needing courses set-up in Moodle for the fall 2010 semester.  In an effort to streamline the process for faculty and instructing staff, Moodle courses have been pre-configured for all fall 2010 course sections.  As long as academic departments have completed the instructor assignment process in Banner, instructors should now be able to login to Moodle and begin configuring their Moodle courses for the start of fall 2010 classes.

To verify that your courses have been created:

  1. Go to http://moodle.njit.edu and login with your UCID and UCID password.
  2. After login, you will be taken to the My Moodle screen where you may see your courses.  To enter a course, go to the My Courses block located in the upper left portion of the screen.
  3. Below the little icon of the house with the word NJIT there will be folders for each semester.  Click on the “+” sign next to each folder to see that semester's courses (e.g. 2010 Fall).  Enter a course by clicking on the course title (e.g. F10MGMT 691851)

Please note the following additional points:

Student enrollments will be added to Moodle on or about August 16, two weeks prior to the first day of classes.  Additions and changes to course registrations will then be updated to Moodle twice a day.

If you do not see your course listed please verify that your academic department has officially assigned you to the course; then e-mail moodle.admin@njit.edu with your name, UCID, NJIT-ID and the course in question (subject, number, section).

If you would like to have multiple NJIT course sections combined into a single Moodle course (e.g. a face-to-face section and an on-line section), please e-mail the specific details to moodle.admin@njit.edu.

If you need help moving Moodle course material from one semester to another, please review tutorials at:  http://moodle.njit.edu/tutorials/faculty/ or e-mail instruction@njit.edu.

Instructors wishing to export a class roster or grade book to Excel should also review this tutorial.

Some additional hands-on Moodle training will be available at the TLT Faculty Institute scheduled for August 24-25.  Visit http://www.njit.edu/tlt/ for details.

Additional questions may be e-mailed to moodle.admin@njit.edu.

Thank you.
